How To Tell If An Online Marketing Company Is A Scam
This topic is so far-fetched more of the time that it’s really out of control. So I’m going to answer this unfounded belief. Is online marketing a scam?
After reading a lot of testimonials and sales letters and squeeze pages on the internet, we can’t help but wonder, is anyone really making a five-figures a month or more? Can you really quit your day job like many online promotions claim? Or is it all just a big scam?
If you are new to what world of online marketing, it’s likely you have heard people calling internet marketing a scam, a fraud, or a rip-off. From the outside looking in, it does seem like online marketers are scamming each other in one big slug fest all the while they’re out recruiting new people “To take advantage of.”
Of course, when you are on the outside looking in and you perceive this going on, it really is hard to know who to believe and who not to trust. A lot of people who have pondered jumping into the online marketing arena and you tell your friends or family that you think you have an opportunity to make good money online, quite often the first response you’ll get is: “Is online marketing a scam?”
Don’t feel bad if this has happened to you, it’s normal for people who are more negative minded (as opposed to positive minded) to tell you there is no way you can really make any decent sort of income online and if you try, you must be pretty gullible.
So let’s take a look at this.
- How can we tell what is an online scam and what isn’t?
- Is it true?
- Is online marketing a scam?
We’ll settle the big question here and now. It’s definitely not true that the concept of online marketing as a whole is a scam.
Think about this: Big companies like Amazon have their affiliate programs that you can join. Those are online marketing programs and people actually are making some pretty good money through Amazon’s affiliate program.
And it’s not just Amazon.
There are a lot of other companies who have affiliate programs that are legitimate, offer a needed product or service, and are paying pretty good financial rewards to those who take part and put forth real effort to make the system work.
In addition to affiliate programs, people are making decent money marketing books in digital format, as well as audio and video products. Remember the saying, “Yes, Virginia. There is a Santa Clause!”
Well, yes potential online marketer, there is real money being made in online marketing. There’s still room for more people to jump in and reap those rewards.
One thing we like about the internet is that it puts the whole world at your fingertips. Both newbie’s and expert gurus are trying to get their products and services marketed online. Of course, not everyone is honest and consequently, not everything that someone wants you to market online for them is worth investing your time or money in. But don’t let that negativity shut you out of what’s possible. Not everyone on the internet is out to steal your money. Unfortunately, there’s a few rotten apples out there tying to get you to bite.
So to answer the question: “Is online marketing a scam?” Of course it’s not if you look at it from a broad perspective. Sure there are some bad apples out there, but do you throw away a whole barrel of apples just because a few are bad? Of course not!
A good rule of thumb to go by when an opportunity presents itself to you, analyze it just like you would if you were buying a washing machine, a computer or a car. If a deal or program sounds too good to be true, then more than likely it is. Stay away from anything that promises a lot of reward without having to do any work on your part.
Another way to zero in on any potential scams is to visit the Federal Trade Commission. There are some great companies out there that really do want you to succeed. Doterra, Digital Altitude, SevenPoint2, Youngevity, are all great companies. However, they are just a few out of the thousands available to promote.
Just like in any business, online marketing has a learning curve. But don’t give up when you make a mistake. You will always learn far more by making mistakes than you will by not making mistakes.
The key is to do your research to make sure what you’re getting involved in is a valid, needed product or service that people really want. Also, make sure the price point is right, and don’t be too hard on yourself when you make a mistake. Remember: History has shown that for the most part, there really are no “overnight successes.”
Believe in yourself. Believe in what you’re doing. Patience and persistence is the key to success in online marketing.
Take these internet marketing strategies and use them in your business to achieve greater success.
